Chronic Pain
Hey everyone,
Today I am going to write a little more about what I previously touched on in post "Four Letters". If you have not read it I encourage you to scroll down and read a little bit about it and it's a fun exercise I came up with! If you would like to read this post, I am going to allow you to do something crazy..Well maybe not that crazy. Remember when you saw Suzie Q (Anybody you love, Mom, Dad, Grandmother, lady on the street) in pain and you wished so hard you could help her, you wished you could know what she was feeling, take that pain away, be in her shoes, relate to her but all you could do is sit and watch or wonder how she felt. Today, I am going to allow you to understand feel how I feel and what I feel. Although everyone's pain is different, I cannot guarantee that the person you are thinking of right now felt the same as I do but what I can do is change the way you look at that Suzie Q. I can change your out look when you see someone in pain and think there is nothing you can do. Let me tell there is something you can do and that is put yourself in that person's shoe and try to relate to them..
This post discusses my chronic illness TMJD.
Let's start out with a little exercise. Sit in a comfortable position where you can read this and feel relaxed. Start off by relaxing each part of your body from your scalp to your toes. This should take about 5 minutes and you may not feel completely relaxed if this is your first time doing this exercise.
Congratulations you just mediated! Woot Woot. Now time to get on to the partying. Anyways, now think and maybe some of you will not have to think. Is there any pain in your body. Anywhere whether it be in your ear, your inner thigh, your lower back, your feet. Do you feel any painful tingly sensation?
What does this feel like?
I feel more calm and soothed. Although, this exercise is not meant to alleviate pain it is meant to relax you. This is not magic but good to do at least once a day and it only takes 5 minutes! Now back to the blogging.
My pain feels throbbing but still.
Beating up and down but nowhere to go
Sitting but pacing
I am sure you have experienced a headache before at the least. A migraine is a headache in a much harsher form. Remember that feeling. Think back to your most recent pain experience. You can feel that pain emotionally now and whether it was intense or not you know how that feels. Relate.Put yourself in the person shoes of whom you love. When it feels like you are no help just smile, think positive and always give that person positive vibes...You know how they feel deep down and while you can't help maybe physically you can certainly be a emotion friend to lean on for them..
